ELIZABETH BALISH, ASID, IIDA
Elizabeth Balish's Interior Design career spans over ten years and incorporates a wide range and scale of residential and commercial projects across the East Coast. Balish's career commenced with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design from the FIDER accredited Marymount University. Here Balish studied a broad range of Architecture and Interior Design areas as well as Business Administration. Upon graduation, Balish entered the commercial Architecture field. This is where she learned Interior Design from the outside in, gaining a realistic understanding and respect for the collaboration and constraints that Architecture has with Interior Design.
In 2002, Balish followed her passion for residential Interior Design by accepting the offer to work on the former Jacqueline Onassis family estate, "Merrywood" in McLean, Virginia. Next, she collaborated on the interior design of the Hungarian Ambassadorial Residence in Washington, DC. On completion, she joined the design side of the extensive renovation of the Washington, DC landmark on Sheridan circle, which serves as the residence for the Turkish Ambassador.

For three and one half years, Balish provided not only her design expertise but her extensive project management skills for the interior portion of this multi-faceted restoration. During this period, Balish worked on projects to update areas of the Kuwait Embassy, the Dutch Ambassadorial Residence and private homes in the area.
Balish's portfolio continues to grow in commercial design with such projects as the renovation of the VIP/Club level of the Verizon Center and the historic Alliance Françoise cultural center in Washington, DC. She has served as a design liaison on such projects as the Inter-American Development Bank's (IDB) renovation of their multiple Executive Dining Rooms.
Projects that Balish has worked on have been highlighted in "Washington Life" magazine, the "Spectacular Homes of Greater Washington, DC" a coffee table book and in the near future Architectural Digest. At the Corcoran College of Art and Design, Balish has served as an industry critic for their graduate Interior Design Thesis Program and has spoken to students on the intricacies of residential Interior Design. Balish is an allied member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), prestigious professional organizations for the Interior Design industry.
She enthusiastically continues to work throughout the Washington, DC and New York City areas on design projects of all scales and budgets.
